Warriors Take Third Place at Irvine Valley Tournament

IRVINE, Calif. – Kayla Bibb notched a double-double as El Camino College defeated Grossmont 70-56 in the third-place game at the Irvine Valley Tournament hosted by Irvine Valley College.

Bibb led the Warriors with 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the victory. She was one of four players to score in double figures against the Griffins. Nao Shiota and Makenna Peneueta each scored 13 points and Hunter Noa added 11.

Three different players dished out four assists as the Warriors totaled 20 assists on 24 field goals. They also shot 11-for-21 from 3-point range.

For the Griffins, Annabasia Olaogun led the way with 13 points.

In three of the four quarters, the teams were separated by four points or less in each period. But it was the second quarter that proved to be the difference as the Warriors outscored the Griffins 24-13. They shot 9-for-16 from the field and 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to take a 15-point lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Warriors would lead by as much as 23 into the fourth quarter before securing the double-digit victory to secure third place at the IVC Tournament. They will take a week off before returning to action on Dec. 18 at the Orange Coast College Tournament where they will open against Palomar at 3 p.m.
