Warriors Perform Well at Ron Kamaka Invitational

WALNUT, Calif. --- El Camino College participated in the Ron Kamaka Invitational hosted by Mount San Antonio College at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on Saturday.

The Warriors secured three wins on the day, highlighted by the men's 4x100m relay team of Izak Giacchetto, Matthew Irvine, Anthony Taylor and Yuto Tamada scoring the win in an incredibly competitive race. The Warriors squad won the event with a time of 41.91, besting Long Beach (42.81) and Chapman (43.29). The Warriors are currently No. 2 in the state with Saturday's result.

In addition, Taylor secured another victory in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.70, edging out Mt. SAC's Christian Baker (14.73). Taylor is currently the state leader in the event.

Naomi Walker continued her excellent season with a victory in the hammer throw, posting a distance of 42.21 meters (138 feet, 6 inches). After three competitions on the year, Walker is currently ranked No. 5 in the state.

Other highlights for the Warriors included:

  • Alexis Pitts: Second place in the 100m (12.28)
  • Irvine: Fourth place in the 400m (49.64)
  • Ami Jacobson: Third place in the 800m (2:30.07) and sixth in the 1,500m (5:00.69).

The Warriors will take the week off and return to action on March 8 at the LBCC Viking Invitational hosted by Long Beach City College.
