Track and Field Finishes Third at Conference Championships

NORWALK, Calif. --- The El Camino College Track and Field team finished third on both the men's and women's side at the South Coast Conference Championships this past weekend.

In addition, the Warriors had three athletes claim conference titles on the men's side with 18 men and both relay teams along with 16 women and both relay teams qualifying for the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships, which will be held on May 5-6 at San Diego Mesa.

Anthony Taylor claimed the conference title in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 14.53, a new personal test and a mark that currently ranks No. 10 on the ECC All-Time list.

James Neely took home to the SCC title in the 800m with a time of 1:54.12, a new personal best. Lincoln Marschall also took home a conference title in the 400 intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.47.

 Other highlights and qualifiers for the SoCal Regional Championships included:

  • 2nd place Alyssa Matsuzaki in the 400 Hurdles – 1:04.36
  • 2nd place Sequoia Gonzales in the 5,000m – 18:31.14 (personal best)
  • 2nd place men's 400m relay team – 41.46
  • 3rd place Ami Jacobson in the 5,000m – 18:38.00
  • 3rd Place Alyssa Matsuzaki in the 100 Hurdles – 15.08
  • 3rd place Rania Gomaa in the 1500m – 4:55.16
  • 3rd place men's 1600m relay team – 3:19.92
  • 3rd place Izak Giacchetto in the 110 High Hurdles – 14.90 (personal best)
