Matsuzaki Qualifies for Southern California Championships

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- El Camino College's Alyssa Matsuzaki qualified for the CCCAA Southern California Championships after participating at the UC Riverside Spring Break Classic on Thursday.

Matsuzaki competed in the heptathlon at the UCR Spring Break Classic, her first heptathlon competition of the season.

She would go on to finish the seven-event competition with 3686 total points to place fifth in the University/Open field of seven competitors.

With her score, she qualified for the Southern California Multi-Event Championships, which will be held on April 4-5 at Saddleback College.

Her score of 3686 also placed her seventh on the ECC All-Time Top-10 Performers list.

Her marks for each event were:

• 100 Hurdles: 15.20
• High Jump: 4 feet, 6 inches
• Shot Put: 25 feet, 4 inches
• 200m: 27.31
• Long Jump: 14 feet, 11 ¼ inches
• Javelin: 59 feet, 9 inches
• 800m: 2:35.48

The full Warriors track and field squad will be back in action on Saturday, April 1 in the Dave Shannon Invitational at Murdock Stadium.
