Stokes Anchors Solid Outing at Vaquero Invitational

GLENDALE, Calif. --- The El Camino College track and field squad made its way to the 2022 Vaquero Classic Invitational hosted by Glendale.

Sierra Stokes was one of the standouts at the meet as she won the 400 meters with a time of 58.22, setting a new meet record. The time was also the sixth best performance in the state.

In addition, Stokes flirted with another victory as she placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 25.0 flat. She would gain a second win on the day though as a member of the 4x400m relay team along with Rania Gomaa, Jailah Robinson and Julia Ausland with a time of 4:10.95. It was the ninth best time in the state.

Ausland had a good showing individually in the 100m with a fourth-place finish and a time of 12.81.

On the men's side, James Neely finished third in the 800m with a time of 1:55.24 and Anthony Brooks also took down a third-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 3.75 inches.

Dominic Britton continued a great season with a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles, posting a time of 15.16. Matthew Irvine took home a third-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.82.
