Track and Field Records a Number of Solid Outings at Beach Opener

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- The El Camino College track and field team had a number of excellent performances at the Beach Opener hosted at Long Beach State.

The meet welcomed a number of NCAA schools from Division I and II levels of competition as well as many of the top community college programs in the state.

The Warriors posted a number of top-five finishes on both the men's and women's side.

The top performance of the day on the women's side came from the 4x400 meter relay team, who finished first amongst community colleges. The team of Julia Ausland, Sierra Stokes, Yukina Hamachi and Jailah Robinson recorded a time of 4:33.08 for the top spot.

Stokes also performed well individually as she finished second in the 200m amongst community colleges with a time of 25.86. Ausland was right behind in third place with a time of 26.82. Hamachi (12th, 28.12) and Robinson (18th, 29.05) logged top-20 finishes for the Warriors in the event.

Robinson also placed in the top-five in the 400m as she was fifth in the event with a time of 1:09.37.

Rania Gomaa placed fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:37.01.

Along with her performances in the relay and individual dash events, Hamachi scored a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.57 behind Cerritos' Jazzmine Davis. She also logged another runner-up finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.22m.

On the men's side, the top performer was Dominic Britton as he scored a victory in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.08, besting Maximilian Pinto (15.15) of San Diego Mesa.

Jaylen Allen posted a fourth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 22.10, an event that featured 52 competitors. Xerxes Reamer (13th, 22.69) and Matthew Irvine (15th, 22.80) were the other two Warriors to finish in the top 20.

Irvine would also score a fourth-place finish in the 400m with a time of 50.74.

The men's 4x100m relay team took home a second-place finish behind Moorpark. The Warriors' squad of Dwayne Barrow, Allen, Reamer and Kyvontei Campell finished with a time of 42.47.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday at the Viking Invitational hosted by Long Beach City College.
