Track and Field Participates in Cerritos Open

NORWALK, Calif. --- El Camino College participated in the Cerritos Open on Saturday and had some stellar performances.

On the men's side, Dominic Britton was the highlight of the day as he won the 110-meter high hurdles event with a time of 14.78. It was the only first-place finish for the Warriors on either the men's or women's side but they still managed some strong showings.

Xerxes Reamer finished second in the 100-meter dash and first amongst community college competition with a time of 11.05. He finished behind only Darnelle Harris of Cal State L.A., who finished with a time of 10.68.

Jaylen Allen finished fourth in the race with a time of 11.08, just one one-hundredth of a second behind a spot on the podium. He also finished fifth in the 200-meters with at time of 21.94.

James Neely was another impressive result for the Warriors as he placed second in the 800-meters with a time of 1:59.70. Jonathan Perez-Cortez of Long Beach took the event with a mark of 1:59.16.

In the relays the 4x100 team of Dwayne Barrow, Kyvontei Campbell, Reamer and Allen placed second with a time of 42.32, finishing behind Mt. SAC's mark of 40.39.

Chinedu Adolf-Anokwuke placed third in the discus event with a makr of 33.87 meters (111 feet, 1 inch).

On the women's side, Raina Gomaa placed third in the 800-meters with a time of 2:38.89 and added a fifth place finish in the 1500m (5:55.09).

Yukina Hamachi had perhaps the best day of any woman for the Warriors as she place third in the 100m hurdles (15.86) and the long jump (4.95m – 16 feet, 3 inches).  She also placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m (4 feet, 11 inches).

The Warriors will take the week off and return to action on March 4 at the Beach Opener hosted by Long Beach State.
