RESULTS

CERRITOS, Calif. - The Warriors track and field team had a great day at the South Coast Conference Championships as the men's team came in second and the women's team came in third place.  Mt. Sac has dominated the South Coast Conference in recent times but host Cerritos College pulled off the double, winning both the men and women's' championships. The Cerritos men's team won with 250.33 points while the El Camino men's team came close with 223 points.  The women's final tally was dominated by Cerritos with 292 points to Mt Sac's 234.5 points. The Warriors were third with 127.5 points. At the conclusion of Saturday's meet, ECC ended up with 24 men (both relays) and 14 women (both relays) on the Top 4 medal stand. The top 6 in each conference final automatically to this Saturday's Southern California Regional Championships with many more "at-large" berths for ECC athletes already announced.

After Tuesday's final events, the women's' team was sitting in third place.  They were able to retain their 3rd position after the rest of the final events.  

-Savannah Sehenuk won the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:58.82.  Carmen Hernandez came in third place with a time of 5:06.70. Sehenuk came in fourth place in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:36.86.

-Kyja Free added another first place to her total after coming in first in the women's discus.  She threw for a mark of 38.83 meters (127-5). Necole Ellis came in second place with a mark of 34.88 meters (114-5).

-Jay Rhambo came in second place in the shot put with a mark of 10.89 meters (35-8.75).

-El Camino came in third place in the 4x100 relay race with a time of 50.57.  The team consisted of Aaliyah Graves, Elizabeth Ibidunni, Aliyah Grissett, and Ashley Reamer.

For the men, they were sitting in third place with 50 points after Tuesday. They were able to improve their position to second place after Saturday's events. The men's team had members on the podium in nearly almost every event and multiple champions.

-Chris Pitts was the top qualifier in the 400m run from Tuesday.  He came in first place with a time of 47.68 after running a 48.16 on Tuesday.

-In his third race of the year, Carson Bix defended his 1500m title and came in first place with a time of 4:01.81.  Victor Akende was right behind him in second place with a time of 4:02.87.

-After coming in second place in the 10,000m run on Tuesday, Matt Arruda came in first place in the 5,000m run on Saturday.   Arruda was in first place with a time of 15:35.59.

-Qwintin Workman came in first place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.45.  Patrick Washington came in fourth place with a time of 56.40. Workman also came in first place in the long jump with a mark of 7.16 meters (23-6).

-The Warriors came in first and second in the 3000m steeplechase.  Caleb Ko came in first place with a time of 9:31:00 and Ethan Comeaux came in second place with a time of 9:36.93.

-Corey Ricketts came in third place in the 800m run final with a time of 1:56.37.

-Timothy Mates came in third place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.95.  Patrick Washington came in fourth place with a time of 14.99.

-Kevin Oliva came in second place in both the shot put and discus.  He had a mark of 14.51 meters (47-7.25) in the shot put and 42.48 meters (139-4) in the discus.

-Jordan Baylis came in third place in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters (6-2.75).

-The 4x100 relay team came in second place with a time of 42.08.  The team consisted of Jordan Baylis, Dhahran Woods, Christopher Pitts, and Alec Froning.

-The 4x400 relay team came in third place with a time of 3:21.13.  The team consisted of Timothy Mates, Alec Froning, Mario Marsetti, and Andre Nieto.

This Saturday May 4th, preliminaries in all events will be held along with the 10,000m final at Riverside City College. The 5,000m, men's Hammer, and M/W Discus will all be contested as Finals on May 11th along with those advancing to Finals from May 4th.
