Warriors Dominate in Dual Victory over Cerritos and Rio Hondo

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College scored two more wins in the men's and women's side over Cerritos and Rio Hondo Friday afternoon at the ECC Pool.

The Warriors had a number of swimmers win multiple events on Friday to help carry them to victory. On the women's side, Andrea Canchola, Cindy Ngo and Clare Siverts all scored victories in three events.

Canchola took home the win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:16.58 and followed that up with wins in the 500 freestyle (5:58.18) and 1000 freestyle (12:15.71).

Ngo scored wins in the 50 freestyle (25.42), 100 freestyle (55.81) and 100 backstroke (1:06.00) while Siverts won the 100 breaststroke (1:17.82) 200 breaststroke (2:44.21) and 200 individual medley (2:35.17).

On the men's side, Aziz Jaouhar scored a pair of wins and moved his name up the ECC record books. He won the 100 backstroke (54.58) and 200 backstroke (1:58.16). His mark in the 200 was the fourth best all-time in Warriors history.

Wyatt Kircher scored wins in the 200 freestyle (1:51.65) and the 200 individual medley (2:10.09). The men's 400 relay team (Kircher, Matthew Thorne, Brayan Salgado, Jaouhar) won their race with a mark of 3:25.22 and the women's 200 medley relay team (Canchola, Siverts,, Samantha Beattie, Ngo) won their event with a time of 2:04.05.

On the diving board, another Warriors diver made history as Jean Liu won the event, posting a score of 218.35. She became the third women's diver in ECC history to record a score of more than 200 points, just one week after teammate Athena Katsouridis became the second. Liu's score of 218.35 on the 3-meter board is the second best diving score in ECC history.

The Warriors return to action Friday with another dual meet against Mount San Antonio and Chaffey at Chaffey College.
