Kircher, Ngo Lead Warriors at Cuesta Invitational

El Camino College participated at the Cuesta Invitational over the weekend with both teams posting top-15 finishes.

The men finished with 212 points overall, good for seventh place out of 20 teams at the meet while the women scored 139 points and placed 12th out of 26 squads.

Wyatt Kircher (35 points) and Cindy Ngo (66 points) were the top performers for the Warriors men and women respectively.

The Warriors had a number of third-place finishes to highlight the weekend. On the men's side, the 800 freestyle relay team of Aziz Jaouhar, Jason Gottschalk, Matthew Thorne and Kircher placed third overall with a time of 7:37.96. Kircher also posted an individual third-place finish in the 400 I.M. with a time of 4:30.61.

Jaouhar also jumped into the ECC record books as he posted a 1:59.64 finish in the 200 backstroke, the sixth fastest time in Warriors history.

Other notables for the men included Kyle Thorne's fourth-place finish (29.20) in the 50 backstroke and Noah Atenza's fourth-place finish in the 100 I.M.

On the women's side, Ngo posted third-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (25.65), 100 I.M. (1:06.64) and 200 freestyle (2:02.85) to lead the team.

The Warriors will host a meet this Friday as they welcome East Los Angeles and L.A. Trade Tech to the ECC Pool at 12:30 p.m.
