Ngo, Canchola Score Wins in Dual Meet against Long Beach and Pasadena

PASADENA, Calif. – The El Camino College men's and women's swim teams both had split results Friday afternoon in a double dual meet against Pasadena and Long Beach City at Pasadena City College.

The Warriors scored victories against Long Beach with the women scoring a 148-74 win while the men posted a 176-97 result over the Vikings.

Both Warriors teams suffered losses to the host Lancers as the men fell 144-127 while the women went down 122-105.

Individually, the Warriors had a number of highlights and victorious performances on Friday afternoon. On the women's side, Cindy Ngo won the 50 and 200 freestyle events, posting times of 25.98 and 2:05.23 respectively. She also swept her individual events in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.41.

Andrea Canchola scored a victory in the 500 free with a time of 6:07.18. She also recorded a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:47.26. Other highlights for the women included a second-place finish for Clare Siverts in the 200 breststroke and a second, third, and fourth-place finish for Athena Katsouridis, Jean Liu, and Ann Ishizawa respectively in the diving event.

On the men's side, the Warriors had some solid showings with the mens' 200 yard relay team (Aziz Jaouhar, Wyatt Kircher, Anthony Dupin de Saint Cyr, Jonas Fahrney) posting a second-place finish at 1:48.32. Jaouhar posted individual second-place finishes in two other events (100 backstroke; 56.05 – 200 backstroke; 2:06.55), while Noah Atenza (100 butterfly; 56.76) and Brayan Salgado (200 backstroke; 2:27.43) each recorded third-place finishes on the day.

The Warriors will return to action next weekend at the Cuesta Invitational beginning on Friday.
