TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College began the final week of the 2023 regular season with a 2-0 South Coast Conference victory over East Los Angeles on Monday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors (21-16, 10-11) completed a season sweep over the Huskies (6-29, 3-19) as Kayla Inzunza and Leesa Parral led the offense for ECC.

Inzunza went 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run while Parral went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.

Destiny Ostorga tossed a complete-game shutout and allowed just two hits with three strikeouts to pick up the win in the circle.

Inzunza opened the scoring in the third inning as she smacked a hit over the right-fielder's head and to the wall. By the time the ball was thrown to the cut-off player, Inzunza was already rounding third and beat the throw to the plate to give ECC a 1-0 lead.

In the fifth, the Huskies mounted their best threat of the game as they got two runners on with one out. But Ostorga got a weak grounder to short and Inzunza threw out the lead runner at third for the second out and then Ostorga struck out pinch hitter Elisa Solano to end the frame.

The Warriors would score an insurance run in the bottom half of the inning after Parral led off with a triple and then scored on an RBI single by Madilyn Radeke.

Ostorga then retired the side in order in the sixth and seventh innings to end the game.

The Warriors will head to Compton on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at noon and then end the regular season on Wednesday at home against Long Beach City.
