Warriors Wrap Regular Season with Run-Rule Win over Huskies

TORRANCE, Calif. --- Leesa Parral was perfect in the batters box and El Camino College scored a 9-1 run-rule South Coast Conference victory over visiting East Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors (20-19, 11-10) wrapped up the 2022 regular season with an offensive explosion, collecting 14 hits on the day to go along with seven stolen bases against the Huskies (15-20, 7-10).

With the win, the Warriors finish conference play in fourth place and will await to find out their postseason, which gets underway on Friday, May 6.

Parral went 4-for-4 at the plate for the Warriors and drove in three runs. It was her first career four-hit game.

In addition, the Warriors had Alyssa Lujan, Leah Madden and Sarah Reels collect two hits apiece. Liz Cortez picked up the win in the circle as she tossed six innings and allowed just one run on six hits.

The Warriors started early, scoring three runs in the first inning and backing that up with three more in the second for a big 6-0 advantage and they never looked back.

Kayla Inzunza's two-run single in the second and Parral's RBI single put ECC up by six after two frames.

The Huskies got one run back in the fifth inning but the Warriors put the game away in the sixth with three more runs.

Sarah Reels started things with an RBI-double to left-center to score Noemi Sandoval and make it 7-1.

Later in the inning, Leah Madden flared a single to left with the bases loaded and one out to make it 8-1 and then Parral put an end to the afternoon with a two-run single through the left-side, plating Lujan and send the Warriors home with a win.
