Lewis Named 3CFCA Player of the Year; Hernandez and Nakawake Earn Recognition

2019 3CFCA All-State and All-Region Teams

Sophomore infielder Diamond Lewis was named the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches' Association Southern California Player of the Year, it was announced this week.

In addition, Jocelyn Hernandez and Mina Nakawake received 3CFCA All-State and All-SoCal Team selections respectively.

Lewis earned the award one year after receiving a 3CFCA All-State Team selection as a freshman in 2018. She also adds to her trophy collection this season after she was named the South Coast Conference, South Division Player of the Year this week. She was the first repeat winner of the award since the 2014-15 seasons. Lewis had an incredible season as she batted .443 on the year with 16 doubles, five home runs and 29 RBI. She led the conference with a .559 on-base percentage and .765 slugging percentage while also posting 33 stolen bases.

Hernandez was named to the All-State Team after a stellar sophomore campaign with the Warriors. She earns the recognition after being named the SCC South Pitcher of the Year this week. Hernandez had a dominant season in the circle for the Warriors. She went 15-1 with a 1.41 ERA in 104.1 innings pitched. Those numbers came in addition to her excellent year with the bat as she batted .414 with 16 doubles and 29 RBI.

Nakawake was named to the 3CFCA All-SoCal Team as a freshman after she batted .362 for the Warriors with 11 RBI and 23 stolen bases this season.

The Warriors drew the No. 4 seed open the CCCAA Softball Southern California Regionals on Friday as they host No. 13 seed San Diego Mesa at the ECC Softball Field. Game one is Friday at 2 p.m. with game two on Saturday at noon and a winner-take-all game three set for 2 p.m. if necessary.
