Softball Falls at Home to LA Mission

TORRANCE, Calif. - A slow start doomed the Warriors from the beginning as they fell to LA Mission 9-5 at home on Wednesday afternoon.

LA Mission (10-10) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never relinquished the lead for the rest of the game over the Warriors (11-4).  

The Warriors pitching staff combined to give up nine runs on eleven hits and three walks.  Sofia Castro pitched a complete game for the Eagles giving up five runs on six hits, three walks, three punchouts, and with a defense that committed four errors.

Six different Warriors had one base hit.  Belle Estrada led the Warriors with a bases clearing triple that she also scored on.  

LA Mission took the lead in the top of the first inning after Julissa Rodriguez connected for a two-run shot over the CF fence. The Warriors got one run back in the bottom of the inning after Kassidy Robinson stole third base and scored on an error by the catcher on the throw that made it a 2-1 game.

Both offenses remained stagnant until the Eagles put up six runs in the sixth inning. The Eagles scored five of those six runs with two outs in the inning.  The Warriors responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning. Belle Estrada hit a bases loaded triple over the left fielders head. She also scored on the play after the throw from the center fielder was wide to make it a 8-5 game.

The Eagles added one more insurance run in the seventh inning while the Warriors couldn't muster a final comeback in the game.

The Warriors will host Mt. Sac on Thursday afternoon at Warrior Field.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
