Big Inning Helps Warriors Rout East Los Angeles

Big Inning Helps Warriors Rout East Los Angeles

El Camino College used a five-run second inning to propel itself to an 8-0 run-rule victory over East Los Angeles in a South Coast Conference game Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors got hits from seven different players with Kylee Perryman and Marissa Garza each driving in a pair of runs in the win. Diamond Lewis scored twice and Emily Piera recorded her first victory of the season in the circle. She allowed just one hit in three innings of work. Kenia Lira wrapped up the game with two scoreless frames.

Holding a 1-0 lead, the Warriors got things started on a Huskies miscue as Jasmine Apodaca reached on an error to lead off the inning. Kate Cunningham then stole second as a pinch-runner and then Sidra Montoya got aboard with a hit, putting two on with no outs.

Vanessa Romero's RBI groundout made it 2-0 for ECC and, after Lewis walked and stole second, Mina Nakawake drew another free pass to load the bases.

Perryman then laced a two-run single to right to put ECC up 4-0. Garza would cap off the inning with a two-run single to make it 6-0 and the Warriors never looked back.

The Warriors will be back in action Thursday afternoon as they hit the road to take on L.A. Harbor. First pitch is set for 3 p.m., weather permitting.
