Machado, Lewis Named All-Americans

2018 NFCA Cal-JC All Americans

El Camino College's Ashley Machado and Diamond Lewis were each named 2018 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All Americans, it was announced recently.

The Warriors duo were two of 10 players selected by the NFCA in the Cal-JC South Region and part of 20 players selected in the state. It is the third straight season the Warriors have had a selection to the NFCA Cal-JC All-American Team.

Machado wrapped up her Warriors career in 2018 with a stellar season behind the plate. She played in 48 games as catcher for the Warriors during the year and batted .339 with 43 hits including nine doubles, six triples and two home runs. She was second on the team with 36 RBI and tied for the team lead in walks with 22. Machado was also second on the team with 30 stolen bases and was named to the 2018 All-South Coast Conference First Team.

Lewis had a breakout season as a freshman for the Warriors, playing in 45 games during the season and helped lead the team to its first ever California Community College State Championships. The infielder led the team in batting average (.470), stolen bases (32), hits (71), runs scored (53), doubles (27) and RBI (39) on the year.

The Warriors advanced to the CCCAA State Championships for the first time in 2018 and logged their first win in the round as well.
