Lewis Earns All-State Honors

2018 3CFCA All-State Awards

El Camino College infielder Diamond Lewis was named to the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches' Association (3CFCA) All-State Team, it was announced Monday.

The recognition comes on the heels of Lewis earning South Coast Conference-South Division Player of the Year honors after the third baseman helped lead the Warriors to their second straight SCC-South Division title and third in the last four years.

Lewis' selection also marks the fourth straight year an ECC player has been named to the 3CFCA All-State Team. The Warriors had three players earn the distinction in 2017.

A freshman out of Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, Calif., Lewis led the Warriors with a .492 batting average on the season. She finished the year with 62 hits, which ranked seventh in the state and led all of California with 25 doubles during the regular season. Lewis played in 37 of the Warriors 40 games this year and began the season with a 27-game hitting streak.

The Warriors will open the CCCAA State Championship Playoffs on Friday as the No. 4 seed in Southern California and will host No. 13 Santa Ana at the ECC Softball Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
