Softball Hosts Santa Ana in Opening Round of Playoffs

El Camino College was seeded as the No. 4 team in Southern California and will host No. 13 seed Santa College in the first round of the California Community College Softball State Championship Playoffs, it was announced Saturday.

The Warriors and Dons will start a best-of-three series beginning Friday, May 4 at the ECC Softball Field at 2 p.m. Game two of the series will take place Saturday at noon and a winner-take-all game three will follow at approximately 2 p.m. if necessary.

Palomar drew the No. 1 overall seed with a 34-3 overall record while Mount San Antonio College was given the No. 2 seed after a 33-7 mark on the season.

In 2018, the Warriors went 31-9 overall and 11-1 in the South Coast Conference, South Division to secure their second straight SCC-South title and third in the last four seasons.

As for the Dons, they come into the CCCAA Playoffs with a 23-15 overall record and a 15-6 mark in the Orange Empire Conference.

This will mark the first time the two teams will meet on the field this season.
