Robinson’s Homer Not Enough as Warriors Fall to Pasadena in Walkoff Fashion

El Camino College overcame a late three-run deficit on one swing of the bat from Kassidy Robinson but it was not enough as the Warriors fell to Pasadena, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon at Robinson Park.

The Warriors (15-6) had their 10-game winning streak snapped as the Lancers (13-9) recorded the walk-off victory in the bottom of the seventh on a bases loaded single from Amanda Flores off Warriors pitcher Maisie Weishoff.

The Warriors pitcher took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits after entering the game in relief for starter Clarissa Chiquete, who allowed two runs on five hits in four and 2/3 innings.

Angel Wintercorn picked up the complete-game win for the Lancers as she allowed three runs on eight hits. She walked two and struck out five.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Flores opened the scoring for Pasadena with a sacrifice fly to right field off Chiquete to put the Lancers up 1-0.

They added two more in the fifth on a two-out, two-run double from Nathalia Velasquez to make it a three-run lead.

The Warriors offense responded in the sixth as Alyssa Wing hit a one-out double to right-center field. Karla Calderon followed with a single to center to put runners at the corners and bring up Robinson to the dish. The Warriors right-fielder hit a bomb over the left-field fence to bring the Warriors all the way back and tie things up at 3-3.

The Lancers went down in order in their half of the sixth and the Warriors followed suit in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom of the inning, the Lancers got the go-ahead run on base as Kaylee Medrano was hit by a pitch. A sacrifice bunt moved her over to second and then the Warriors intentionally walked Brianna Hernandez.

Angelica Lopez singled to left field to load the bases but Weishoff got Velasquez to foul out to third for the second out of the frame. But Weishoff could not get off the hook as Flores singled to left to score the game-winning run and snap the Warriors winning streak.

The Warriors will return home Wednesday to take on Mount San Antonio at the ECC Softball Field. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. and is a make-up game from a rainout on March 15.
