Warriors Open Home Schedule with Romp over Moorpark

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College only scored in two of the five innings of Tuesday afternoon's home opener against Moorpark, but both were huge innings and the pitching staff did the rest as the Warriors scored a 9-0 victory over the Raiders at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors (2-1) put up five runs in the second inning and then a four-spot in the fourth to score the run-rule win over the Raiders (0-3). Eight different Warriors recorded a hit on the day with Diamond Lewis leading the charge, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI. Jasmine Krauss and Rylee Rehders each scored twice on the day.

Lewis went on to pick up the victory in the circle for ECC, tossing three and 2/3 innings and allowing three hits and two walks. She helped keep things scoreless in the second inning as she struck out Sam Villa with the bases loaded to end the threat and keep things scoreless.

In the bottom of the inning, Alena De La Torre reached on an error and that opened the floodgates for ECC. She would steal second base, the second of nine stolen bases in the game for the Warriors. Kassidy Robinson then laid down a bunt single to advance De La Torre to third. Robinson then took off for second, drawing a throw from the defense. In the ensuing rundown, De La Torre broke for home and brought in the Warriors first run of the game.

With one out, Lewis stepped in and singled to score Robinson and make it 2-0 for the Warriors. The Warriors would load the bases and then use their base running to score two runs on a wild pitch and make it 4-0. Alyssa Wing capped the scoring in the inning with a single through the left side to plate Jasmine Krauss and make it 5-0.

The Warriors would get RBIs from Rylee Rehders, Jazmyn Sancen, Annie Adamos and De La Torre in the fourth inning to put the game away.

The Warriors will be off until Saturday morning when they host Palomar. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. at the ECC Softball Field.
