Warriors Softball Sends Nine to Next Level

TORRANCE, Calif. – Nine members of the 2017 South Coast Conference champion El Camino College softball team will move on to continue their academic and athletic careers at the next level.

Kamryn Fisher, Kattya Calderon, Raelani Camez, Brigid Antonelli, Haley Reed, Brooke Sarro, Aleah Lacy, Alyvia Granillo and Brianna Devellano will all move on to the four-year level after helping the Warriors claim the 2017 SCC-South Division crown along with a California Community College Athletic Association Regional Championship.

The Warriors finished the season with a 37-8 overall record and won their second South Coast Conference title in the last three seasons and third overall. They were the ninth team in SCC history to go undefeated in conference play and the second ECC squad to do so.

Brigid Antonelli | Cumberland University

Antonelli was a big part of the Warriors high-powered offense on the softball field. She played in 44 games, making 43 starts and batted .355 with 43 hits including 11 doubles and five triples. She was fourth on the team with 34 RBI and also stole 14 bases. Antonelli also earned her second straight All-SCC First Team selection and second consecutive selection to the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association All-SoCal Team. The infielder helped lead the Warriors to an undefeated season in conference play and the Warriors' second conference title in the last three seasons. In her freshman season, Antonelli batted .390 with five doubles, two triples and 22 RBIs during her freshman season. Antonelli was perfect in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA and is planning on pursuing a nursing career.

Raelani Camez | CSU San Marcos

A two-time National Fastpitch Coaches' Association CalJC All-American, Camez batted .419 for the Warriors in 43 games in 2017. She led the team with 10 triples and 58 runs scored while finishing second on the squad with 54 hits. Camez was also 35-for-37 in stolen bases during the year and was named First Team All-Conference and earned a second straight selection to the 3CFCA All-State Team.

Kamryn Fisher | CSU San Marcos

Fisher earned 2017 All-SCC Honorable Mention after a selection to the second team in 2016. She patrolled first base for the Warriors, playing and starting in 42 games as a sophomore. She batted .410 on the season with 48 hits, nine doubles, one triple and a team-high six home runs. She also led the team with 48 RBIs and scored 32 runs.

Haley Reed | Grand Canyon University

The Warriors top pitcher in 2017, Reed earned a number of postseason accolades as she led the team with 18 victories in the circle in 34 appearances and 27 games started. She tossed 165 and 1/3 innings and earned the SCC Pitcher of the Year Award in the South Division. Reed was also named to the 3CFCA All-State Team. In addition to her work in the circle, Reed also made her presence known in the batter's box as she hit .378 on the year with 37 hits, 10 doubles and two home runs. She drove in 25 runs and was third on the team with 15 walks. She will be headed to Grand Canyon for academics and will compete on the club softball team.

Brooke Sarro | William Jessup University

Sarro went 15-2 in the circle for the Warriors in 2017, tossing 104 and 1/3 innings. She made 30 appearances including 10 starts and led the team with a 2.08 ERA and 52 strikeouts. In two years at ECC, Sarro appeared in 47 games and tallied 21 victories in the circle in 151 innings pitched. She posted a 2.18 career ERA along with 69 strikeouts.

Kattya Caledron | CSU San Marcos

Calderon played in 39 games for the Warriors and made 35 starts. She tallied 28 hits and scored 26 runs with two doubles and three triples. She was also 9-for-10 in stolen bases while posting a .429 on-base percentage.

Alyvia Granillo | Grand Canyon University

Granillo utilized a redshirt in 2017 but played in 15 games for the Warriors in 2016. She recorded five hits, scored five runs and had six RBIs. She will be moving on to Grand Canyon academically and will also be competing for the club softball team.

Aleah Lacy | San Francisco State University

Lacy appeared in 32 games for the Warriors in 2017 and made 12 starts. She appeared mainly as a pinch-runner and was perfect on base paths, going 4-for-4 in stolen bases. She tallied 10 hits on the year and scored 15 times while adding two doubles, a triple and nine RBIs.

Brianna Devellano | William Woods University

Devellano played in eight games for the Warriors during the 2017 season and scored five times while posting three hits including a home run.
