Warriors Extend Winning Streak to 20 Games with Win over Compton

TORRANCE, Calif. – Six different players drove in a run Tuesday afternoon as No. 6 El Camino College secured its 20th consecutive victory with a 9-3 South Coast Conference-South Division decision over ECC Compton Center at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors (29-5, 8-0) remained undefeated in conference action and need just two victories to secure the outright SCC-South Title, which would be the program's third conference title in history and second in the last three seasons.

Brooke Sarro scored the win for the Warriors on Tuesday as she tossed four innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits against the Tartars (9-21, 2-6). Haley Reed tossed the final three innings and collected her first save of the season, allowing one run on three hits.

Julianne Adamos, Raylauni Jones, and Kattya Calderon all had multi-hit games for ECC. Calderon swiped three of the Warriors six stolen bases on the day and ECC tallied four extra-base hits including Adamos' first triple of the year.

The Warriors took an early lead in the first inning as Adamos blasted a triple off the base of the right-center field wall. She came in to score on a passed ball to put ECC up 1-0.

But the Tartars took the lead in the next inning as Jovana Guevara doubled to right field to score Blanca Hernandez and then Anayanci Diaz reached on an error by second-baseman Kassandra Hernandez, allowing Guevara to come in and score from second base and make it 2-1 in favor of the Tartars.

The deficit was short lived as the Warriors plated four runs in their half of the second thanks to a wild pitch and RBI hits by Ronni Silas, Raelani Camez and Ashley Machado to put ECC up 5-2 and they never looked back.

The Warriors return to action Thursday afternoon on the road as they take on Los Angeles Harbor.
