Machado Drives in Three as Warriors Trounce Long Beach for 14th Straight Win

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Catcher Ashley Machado had a big day at the plate to help El Camino College collect its 14th straight win with an 8-1 South Coast Conference decision over Long Beach Thursday afternoon at the Vikings Softball Field.

Machado went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and three RBIs as the Warriors (23-5, 6-0) erupted for a six-run second inning to run away with the victory against the Vikings (17-15, 3-2).

The Warriors had seven hits overall with doubles from Alyssa Wing, Haley Reed and Machado while Reed and Kamryn Fisher each drove in a run. The Warriors also recorded five stolen bases, three of them by Machado. Jasmine Krauss and Brigid Antonelli also swiped a base against the Vikings.

Haley Reed tossed a complete game to earn her ninth win of the season in the circle. She allowed one unearned run on six hits and struck out three.

The Warriors return home Friday afternoon to host Citrus for a doubleheader beginning at 12:30 p.m. The second game is slated to start at 2:30 p.m. at the ECC Softball Field.
