Warriors Breeze By Orange Coast and Santa Barbara in Doubleheader Matchups

COSTA MESA, Calif. - The Warriors travelled to Orange Coast College to face the Pirates and Santa Barbara in back-to-back games. The Warriors faced off against the Pirates first and ended the competition in five innings, leading 16-5. Julianne Adamos led in RBI with a total of four and went 3-4 at the plate and scored a run. Alyssa Wing, Jazmyn Sancen, and Brigid Antonelli all hit doubles. In the second match, the Warriors beat the Vaqueros 8-5 with Raelani Camez and Wing both earning two RBI, with Brianna Devellano hitting a home run.

Adamos hit her first RBI in the first inning to bring in Alyssa Wing for the only run of the inning. The Warriors than struck four runs in the second inning with the Pirates getting two runs before the end of the second. Aleah Lacy scored first and Ashley Machado earned two RBI with a single which allowed Raelani Camez and Kassandra Hernandez to both score. Wing hit a double that then brought in Machado.

The Warriors then went on to score six more runs at the top of the third. Jazmyn Sancen was first to bat and hit a double to put her on second. Brigid Antonelli was up next, hitting a double as well to bring in Sancen. Lacy then hit a single that allowed Antonelli to score. Hernandez was on second before she went on to steal third and then scored off an error by the catcher. Wing hit a single that put her on second and earned the RBI with Silas scoring the fourth run of the inning. Adamos earned two more RBI with a single to second base, bringing in Wing and Camez.

The Pirates earned three runs at the bottom of the fourth to put the game at 11-5. As the fifth inning began, the Warriors were merciless and went on to score another five runs before the end of the game. Riah Nunley hit a single and was able to get on second and earn the RBI when Raylauni Jones scored. Machado advanced to third off Nunley's hit and later scored by Adamos' single. Nunley was on third and Adamos stole second before Sancen hit a pop out to second base. Antonelli was up to bat next and hit a single and went on to advance to second, putting Adamos on third and bring in Nunley. Adamos was then able to score off an error from the third basemen. Lacy was then tagged out trying to get to third but allowed for Antonelli to score the run.

The Pirates earned a hit at the bottom of the fifth but were unable to score any runs to end the game 16-5 for the Warriors.

In their second game of the day, the Warriors scored eight runs with Camez hitting a triple. The Vaqueros were leading by three going into the bottom of the third. The Warriors then plated four runs with Camez earning an RBI with a triple and Wing hitting a double that gave her two RBI. Antonelli then hit a single that allowed Wing to score a third run to put the Warriors ahead by one.

In the fourth inning, The Vaqueros scored another run but the Warriors responded with two of their own. Devellano hit her homer and Machado grounded out first base but gave the Warriors another run.

Santa Barbara persisted, nailing a fifth run at the top of the sixth but once again the Warriors responded with two more runs. Camez and Machado both hit doubles to each earn an RBI.

"I thought they were both really great team wins," commented Coach Jessica Rapoza. "We are learning how to put the ball on the ground and put pressure on the defense."

"Everyone contributed today and our energy in the dugout was focused and enthusiastic which will be vital for our success. I was proud of our dugout today," finished Coach Rapoza.

The Warriors continue the season 8-2 and continue on the road on Tuesday, facing Mt. San Antonio College at 3pm.
