TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a tough 15-12 loss to visiting San Joaquin Delta on Thursday afternoon at the ECC Aquatics Center.

The Warriors (7-9) saw their three-game winning streak get snapped in a very tight contest. Marc Bugarin led the team with five goals and Heitor Trefilio added three in the loss while Tyler Reed and Scott Fujiwara each dished out three assists.

For the Mustangs (9-3), Jayson Chacon led the way with five goals and five assists while Guy Hein and Jacob Herren scored three apiece.

The match was closely contested throughout as neither team could gain much separation. No team led by more than two goals until the last minute of action and the teams were tied eight times.

The Warriors led 8-7 at halftime after outscoring the Mustangs 4-1 in the final 3:35 of the first half. But the Mustangs scored three unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a 10-8 lead and they never trailed again.

The Warriors were able to pull even at 12-12 on Bugarin's fifth goal of the match but Guy Hein found the back of the net with the man-advantage and the Mustangs never looked back, holding the Warriors scoreless in the final 5:45 of the match.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday afternoon at the Santa Monica Mini Tournament. They begin the day with a match against Ventura at 1:50 p.m. and close out the day against the host Corsairs at 4:10 p.m.
