TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College edged Chaffey 14-12 in a South Coast Conference contest Wednesday afternoon at the ECC Aquatics Center.

The Warriors (12-10, 1-2) recorded their first conference win but had to work hard for it as the Panthers (1-10, 0-5) erased an early hole to make it a competitive game.

Bronson Garel, Matheus Trefilio and Zackary Johnson each scored three times to lead the Warriors offensively.

Benjamin Dow led all players with five goals for the Panthers and Dillon Mannion scored three times in a losing effort.

The Warriors jumped out to a four-goal lead after one quarter as they scored five unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0. But the Panthers owned the second quarter, outscoring ECC 6-2 to pull even at halftime.

In the third, the Panthers took their first lead of the game when Anthont Felix scored with 4:47 left in the quarter but Garel pulled the Warriors even with a power-play goal with 3:40 left.

The Warriors would score three of the first four goals in the fourth to gain a two-goal lead and the defense was able to hold on for the win. Trefilio hit a 5-meter attempt with 1:05 left for what became the game-winning goal.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday at the Santa Monica College Mini Tournament where they will face Cypress (3 p.m.) and Santa Monica (5:20 p.m.)
