Men’s Water Polo Sweeps Matches at South of the Border Tournament

El Camino College scored four victories over the weekend at the South of the Border Tournament hosted by San Diego Miramar.

EL CAMINO COLLEGE 14, PALOMAR 9

The Warriors never trailed as Nate Griffith led the team with five goals and added one assist while Joseph Banda came up with three goals and three assists in the win. Brandon Soto made 17 saves in goal.

EL CAMINO COLLEGE 17, LAS POSITAS 12

A 7-0 scoring run to start the match set the tone for the Warriors as they finished off a perfect Friday in the pool. Las Positas made it interesting, trimming the ECC to 9-8 with 3:34 left in the third quarter but the Warriors scored four of the next five goals and then outscored Las Positas 4-2 in the fourth to secure the victory.

Griffith and Cole Allyn each netted five goals to lead the team. Griffith also led the team with five assists and Seth Ulrich added three goals in the victory. Soto made 12 saves in three quarters and then Ali Ahmad played the fourth, making two saves.

EL CAMINO COLLEGE 13, FULLERTON 7

The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead and never looked back as they began Saturday's action with a victory. Griffith netted another five goals to lead the team with Ulrich and Allyn adding three apiece. Josh Terry and Adian Morvice each had three assists to lead the team and Soto made 14 saves in net.

EL CAMINO COLLEGE 18, GROSSMONT 15

The Warriors concluded the weekend with a great performance out of Allyn, who scored six times and added four assists and three steals to seal an undefeated weekend for ECC. Ulrich had his best output of the weekend with five goals and Griffith added three more goals to cap off a spectacular week individually.

The Warriors will return to conference competition on Wednesday as they travel to Long Beach. The match is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
