Four Warriors Given All-South Coast Conference Honors

TORRANCE, Calif. - The All-South Coast Conference Water Polo teams were announced on Wednesday and El Camino had three players make the team and one honorable mention.  Matthew Thorne was named to the first team, Brandon Soto and Kyle Thorne were named to the second team, and Seth Ulrich was an honorable mention.

Matthew Thorne was the only member of El Camino named to the All-South Coast Conference First Team.  Matthew Thorne led the Warriors with 80 goals for the season. He also had 17 assists, 24 steals, and 17 blocks for the season.  Thorne was second in the conference with 80 goals and 15th overall in the state. Thorne led the conference with 17 blocks.

Brandon Soto was named to the All-South Coast Conference Second Team.  The Rancho Palos Verdes native started in all 28 games in goal for the Warriors.  He made 312 saves for the season and led the team to 11 wins. Soto finished the season with a 51% save percentage.  Soto was second in the conference with 312 saves, 4 behind Mt Sac's Jake Simmons. Soto was 4th in the state with 312 saves.   

Kyle Thorne was named to the All-South Coast Conference Second Team.  The Redondo Beach native was third in the team in goals scored with 45.  He also had 41 assists, 18 steals, and 14 blocks for the season. He was 6th in the conference in assists.  Thorne was second in the conference with 14 blocks.

Seth Ulrich was named an Honorable Mention to the All-South Coast Conference.  The freshman center started in all 28 games for the Warriors. He was second in the team with 55 goals and tied for 12th in the conference. Ulrich also had 10 assists, 16 steals, and 2 blocks for the season.

The Warriors finished with an 11-17 overall record and 5th place finish at the South Coast Conference tournament under first year head coach, Noah Rubke.
