Warriors Hang On For Win vs Fullerton College

TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College clung to a one-goal lead with less than a minute remaining in the game before scoring and conceding a goal to preserve the 19-18 victory over Fullerton College

Seth Ulrich led the Warriors with six goals, one assists, and two steals.  Ryan Winkler had four goals, four assists, five steals, and one field block.  Matt Thorne had three goals, one assist, and one field block. Kyle Thorne had three goals, two assists, and one block.  Brandon Soto made eleven saves and had three steals.

The Warriors jumped to an early 4-0 lead within the first two minutes and fifty-five seconds.   The Warriors finished the first quarter on top, 7-2.

In the second quarter, they jumped to their biggest lead of the game with a 9-2 lead with 6:44 left in the half.   The Warriors finished the half leading 12-6.

In the third quarter, El Camino scored six goals compared to Fullerton's seven goals.   The Warriors finished the third quarter leading 18-13.

In the fourth quarter, Fullerton College made things interesting by cutting the El Camino lead to one goal.  It was 18-17 heading into the last minute of play. Kyle Thorne iced the game for the Warriors and gave them a two-score advantage over the Hornets.   Fullerton College pegged one goal back with 6 seconds left in the game, but there wasn't enough time to complete the comeback.

The Warriors resume conference play next week with a game against Cerritos College at Cerritos.   The match is set to start at 4:30 PM.
