Men’s Volleyball Opens Playoffs Against Grossmont

The El Camino College Men's Volleyball team begins its quest for the program's first ever CCCAA State Championship when it hosts No. 7 Grossmont in the CCCAA Quarterfinals Friday night at 6 p.m. at the ECC South Gym.

HOW THEY GOT HERE

Grossmont: The Griffins claimed the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title this season after finishing with a 5-1 conference record, one game better than second-place Palomar. They went 8-9 overall on the season with just three wins outside the conference.

El Camino College: The Warriors steamrolled through the season, dropping only a pair of matches against No. 1 seed Orange Coast and No. 3 Long Beach. The Warriors and Vikings tied for the best record in the Western State Conference with identical 11-1 marks and the Warriors claimed the higher seed due to a better overall record.

THE ROAD BACK TO STATE

The Warriors are looking to make their second trip to the CCCAA State Championships for the second time in the past three seasons. The Warriors made it all the way to the CCCAA State Championship match in 2017 where they eventually fell to Orange Coast at L.A. Pierce.

The Warriors also advanced to the final match in 2014 when they fell to Santa Monica in the finals.

THE STATS

The Warriors enter the postseason with one of the best offenses in the state. They currently rank first overall in assists per set (11.76), second overall in attacking percentage (.306), and third in overall kills (796) and kills per set (12.06).
