Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Moorpark for Seventh Straight Win

TORRANCE, Calif. – Cinjun Coe posted double-digit kills as El Camino College swept past visiting Moorpark 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) in a Western State Conference tilt Wednesday night at the ECC South Gym.

The Warriors (9-1, 4-0) logged their seventh straight win and remained unbeaten in conference play. Coe led the way for ECC with 13 kills on 18 swings with two errors (.611) and added two blocks, two digs and an ace.

Joseph Sico dished out 33 assists and had seven digs while Gabriel Vargas-Featherstone tallied nine kills and six digs. Cruz Padilla chipped in with seven kills on 11 swings with just two errors (.455).

As a team, the Warriors attacked at a .349 percentage while holding the Raiders (6-3, 2-2) to a .229 clip including a .179 attack percentage in the third set.

Ryan Horan led the visiting Raiders with 10 kills but was held to just a .192 hitting percentage while Dylan Haskell added seven kills. Steven Weese dished out 32 assists in the loss.

It took a moment for the Warriors to get their feet under them in the first set as they trailed the Raiders 14-11, never leading the set in the process.

But ECC rallied off three straight points to tie things up and, after exchanging a few points, the Warriors took the lead on an attacking error from Jordan Moses. Vargas-Featherstone would record a kill to make it a two-point cushion an the Warriors would never trail again in the frame, taking a 1-0 lead with a 25-22 victory in set one.

The Warriors would never trail again in the match as they led wire-to-wire in the second and third sets with a couple of ties mixed in to close out the match and record ECC's sixth sweep of the season.

The team will hit the road on Friday night as they face L.A. Pierce at 6 p.m.
