Warriors Sweep Past Palomar

TORRANCE, Calif. – A balanced offensive effort superior net presence helped carry El Camino College to a decisive 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-16) victory over visiting Palomar College Wednesday night at the ECC South Gym.

Cesar Medina led the way for the Warriors (5-4) with 11 kills on a .444 (11-3-18) hitting percentage and Jaden Misaalefua patrolled the net with six blocks (four solo) to help stifle the Comets' (2-8) attack.

Pedro Campos dished out 16 assists on the night while Malaki Tauiliili added 14 helpers while setting the Warriors to a .333 (39-13-78) attacking percentage. Erik Jensen paced the defense with nine digs on a night where the Warriors collected 29 digs as a team.

The match started off close as it featured seven ties and five lead changes. All that came early in the frame however as the Warriors rode an 8-0 scoring run on Jason Carroll's serve to open up a 16-9 lead. Palomar would cut the deficit to just two at 23-21 but Medina and Jaden Misaalefua hammered down a pair of kills to seal the win for El Camino in the first.

In the second, the Warriors jumped out to a 10-5 lead early and kept the pressure on as Medina slammed down five of his kills in the frame. The Warriors also held the Comets to just four kills in the entire frame while forcing nine attack errors, helping El Camino cruise to a 2-0 lead.

In the third, the Warriors hit .400 (10-2-20) with Jensen and Matt Carter netting three kills apiece while Misaalefua recorded four solo blocks and five overall in the set to lead El Camino to victory.

The Warriors will return to action on March 15 when they hit the road to face Irvine Valley College.
