The Warriors Continue Their Winning Streak Defeating The Raiders In 3 Sets

TORRANCE, Calif. – The Warriors (4-3) continue their four game winning streak, defeating Moorpark in three sets (25-12, 25-21, 25-20).

The Warriors started strong in the first set. Cesar Medina had the first two kills, bringing the Warriors to a 3-1 lead. After a long rally, the Raiders responded tying the set at 5. PJ Tulikihihifo answered back with a kill and the Warriors took back the lead 7-5. Medina took his fifth kill in the set to bring the Warriors up 13-8. Matthew Donatucci got in a kill after a long rally bringing the score to 18-8. The Warriors took the set 25-12.

Continuing the momentum, the Warriors took the second set. Another kill from Medina started the Warriors off leading 2-1. Matt Carter blocked the Raiders attack and the Warriors continued up 6-4. Tulikihihifo had back-to-back kills brining the score to 10-7. Following Tulikihihifo, Medina responded with another kill brining the score to 16-12. After a timeout from the Raiders, the Warriors took the second set 25-21.

The third set was a close set until Victor Villarreal dove into the audience saving the ball and taking the lead 18-14. The Warriors finished the third match 25-20.

Medina led the team offensively with 13 kills and Donatucci finished with 9 kills. Pedro Campos led the team defensively with 8 digs and Cater and Tulikihihifo had 4 blocks.

Coach Dick Blount commented, "We played well. We had a few mental mistakes, but I am pleased."

The Warriors travel to LA Pierce college on Friday, March 3rd to face the Brahma's at 6:00 pm.
