Men's Volleyball Falls Short In Season Opener

TORRANCE, Calif. – The Warriors fell short to the Orange Coast College Pirates losing the game 1-3 after four sets. The Warriors bounced back after being down the first two sets, but were not able to complete.

The Warriors started off slow in the first two sets. The first set they lost 16-25 and the second, 19-25. The momentum shifted in the third set to which they won 25-21. The Warriors were not able to execute in the fourth set, but came close and lost 21-25.

After putting in Sophomore Cesar Medina, the confidence rose amongst the team. Medina had 12 kills off of the bench. Freshmen Jaden Misaalefua and Matthew Donatucci had 10 kills each for the Warriors. Defensively, Sophomore Jason Caroll had10 digs and Freshmen Victor Villareal had 6 blocks. 

Coach Dick Blount commented on the teams' play, "It was a slow start. I told them not to be nervous because it was 'our house', but they were still nervous. Orange Coast College is probably the best team out of the south and we will play them again." 

It was a slow start for the Warriors, but there is still a full season ahead. The Warriors play at Golden West College next Wednesday, February 8th at 6:00 pm.
