Men's Tennis Falls to College of the Desert, 6-3

TORRANCE, Calif. - The Warriors (1-9) hosted College of the Desert (4-4) on Tuesday afternoon. The Roadrunners were able to take home the win with a 6-3 victory over the Warriors. Jie Ong and Chris Gordon both won their singles matches for the Warriors while Kyle Ou and Ong won their doubles (8-0).

"I thought singles went pretty well for the most part. I think Ong and Gordon were our big success because they both won," shared Coach Darin Dunn.

Ou and Louis Tanada both fought hard in their matches but fell to their opponents. Daniel Fisher had a tough match against Clayton Carlson and though he played well, lost 6-2, 6-1.

"Overall, singles wasn't too bad, obviously we would have liked to have done a little better so that in doubles we wouldn't have had to get so many points to try and win. It was definitely a step in the right direction," commented Coach Dunn.

In doubles, Ou and Ong played confidently to get the only doubles win for the Warriors. Tanada and Gordon both showed resilience but ultimately fell 8-5. "Tanada and Gordon paddled the whole way, it was an extremely close game even though it was 8-5 it could easily have been much closer than that."

"In general, we are happy with the performance they gave today but we are still a little short," finished Coach Dunn.

The Warriors return home on Thursday afternoon to face Palomar College at 2pm.
