Baltazar, Roca Named Scholar All-Americans

2023 Junior College Men's Scholar All Americans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Sophomores Nicholas Baltazar and Bogart Roca were both named to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches Junior College Men's Scholar All-America Team, it was announced Friday.

The Warriors back-line duo were a part of 33 athletes selected to the Scholar All-American Team. Baltazar also became the first Warriors player ever to be named to the First Team Scholar All-American Team while Roca became the third Warriors player to get a second-team selection.

Baltazar majored in Business Administration and posted a 3.87 GPA, the fourth highest on the first team. Roca was a Kinesiology major and posted a 3.82 GPA, tied for the third best on the second team.

Baltazar was the Warriors' captain this season that saw the team go 24-1-0 and win the fifth 3C2A State Championship in program history and first since 1992. He played and started in all 25 games for the Warriors this season. He was named the South Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was also selected as a USC First-Team All American.

Roca played in 22 games and made 21 starts in 2023 and scored two goals to go along with nine assists, the fourth most on the team. He was named to the All-SCC First Team, his second straight All-Conference selection after making the second team as a freshman in 2022.

Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif., in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
