Warriors Fall at Cerritos in SCC Semifinals

NORWALK, Calif. - After picking up a 2-0 win last week over the Falcons to finish the regular season off, the El Camino College men's soccer team fell 3-1 at Cerritos on Tuesday in the South Coast Conference Championship Semifinals.  

The Warriors (16-3-1) will head to the third place game and the Falcons (14-4-1) will head to the championship game, both taking place on Friday at El Camino.  

The Warriors were under siege early which led to an early Cerritos goal by Armando Ibarra, Jr. in the seventh minute.  The Warriors would equalize in the 19th minute after a corner kick.  Brandon Galindo scored off an assist from Ricardo Martin.

Cerritos would score the game-winner in the 42nd minute off a corner kick goal on a header by  Edwin Rodriguez.

The Warriors had to play down a man for 21 minutes after Eli Ristovki was sent off and the Falcons were able to add a third goal not soon after by Pablo Caparelli.

Luis Garibay made six saves in the game while picking the loss and Alex Ledesma made five saves for the Falcons.

The Warriors will play in the third place game on Friday, November 12th at home.  The No.3 seeded Warriors will face the No.1 seeded Mt. Sac after the Mounties lost in penalty kicks on Tuesday night against Long Beach.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.  The field has not yet been determined with both the men and women's third place games taking place simultaneously inside Murdock Stadium and the auxiliary soccer field.
