MSOC: Two Warriors Named to All-Region Team

TORRANCE, Calif. - It was announced on Friday that two more El Camino College men's soccer players garnered more postseason recognition.  

Both midfielders Oliver Diaz and Melvyn Perez-Cortez were named to the All-Region team.  Melvyn Perez-Cortez was also named to the All-State team.

Melvyn Perez-Cortez - The freshman midfielder was the team leader in points with 19.  Perez-Cortez was tied for the team lead in seven goals and also had five assists. He had two game-winning goals against Norco and Compton. He was also previously named to the SCC All-First Team.

Oliver Diaz - The sophomore midfielder was second on the team with 18 points. He scored seven goals and had four assists for the season. He had three game-winning goals against Irvine Valley, Moorpark, and Orange Coast College.  Diaz was also previously named to the SCC All-First Team and the United Soccer Coaches National Junior College Scholar All-American Second Team.  

The Warriors had a historic season that fell just one game short of the CCCAA Final Four in just the second year under head coach Mike Jacobson.  The Warriors doubled their win total from last season (7-7-6) to an outstanding 14-3-5 record. The Warriors lost just three games all season against the two conference foes ranked above them in Cerritos (twice) and Mt. Sac. The Warriors fell in the third round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs against the state runner up, Mt. Sac.
