Mens Soccer Stays Unbeaten After Win over Irvine Valley

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors continued their hot start to the season after defeating Irvine Valley College 1-0 at home on Tuesday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

The Warriors (2-0-1) have had their best start since the 2014 season, when the Warriors went unbeaten in their first six games (2 wins, 4 draws).

The Warriors outshot the Lasers (0-2-2) 21 shots to 10 shots for the game.  The Warriors also had eight corners to the Laser's four corners in the game.

The defense posted their third straight shutout to start the season.  Luis Garibay recorded four saves for the contest.

The Warriors got off to an early start and took the lead in the six minute of the game.  Ricardo Martin started the sequence with a pass to Jonathan Guardado on the right side side of the box.  Guardado sent in a cross through a couple IVC defenders to find Oliver Diaz. Diaz was able to blast one into the net for his second goal of the season.

The Warriors had two more great opportunities to put away the game.  In the 52nd minute, Cristo Deras had a shot hit off the post. In the 83rd minute, Jonathan Guardado also had a shot ring off the post.

The Warriors will next host Glendale College for the second game of their three game homestand.  Kick-off is scheduled for approximately 4:00 PM, after the women's game vs Fullerton College.
