Warriors Equalize Late Vs Pasadena City

TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College displayed their late dramatics once again in a draw with Pasadena City on Friday afternoon.

Needing a win and other results to go their way to potentially make the postseason, El Camino College finishes the season with a 7-7-6 (2-2-3 conference) record.

The Lancers (6-9-5, 2-4-2) scored the first goal of the game off a goal by David Vasquez-Mena.  He was able to chip Brandon Cardenas after a pass from Romio Sislian.

The Warriors responded right away to make it a 1-1 game a few minutes later.  Matthew Villongco played a beautiful diagonal ball from the halfway line to Andy Salguero who controlled the ball and dribbled into the box and shot into the lower far post to tie the game up.

In the second half, needing a win the Warriors kept a high line on defense and tried to keep the offense moving.  Pasadena City College went ahead in the 79th minute after the players were confused at a ball in the middle of the field and a foul that wasn't called.  A Pasadena player found a streaking Anthony Jimenez down the right side and he was able to put one past Cardenas to make it 2-1.

After a ton of fouls and four yellow cards issued in the last 10 minutes of the game, El Camino thought they found their equalizer in the 90th minute after Oliver Diaz chested a ball in the box and played a perfect ball that Kevin Negrete rifled into the back of the net, but the play was called dead for offsides.

El Camino did eventually find their equalizer in the third minute of stoppage time after a corner kick.  Cole Prince blasted a shot into the left corner of the net off a rebound from a defensive player. But time ran out before the Warriors could add a gamewinner.

Brandon Cardenas started in net for the Warriors and made three saves.
