Men’s Soccer Wins First Conference Game at Compton

COMPTON, Calif. - The El Camino College men's soccer team held onto a 2-1 victory at Compton College on Tuesday evening.

The Warriors (4-2-3, 1-0-2) are now undefeated in their last six contests, going (3-0-3) and have started SCC conference play with a 1-0-2 record.

Jean-Pierre Dejean Macksa and Mason Briggs did the scoring for the Warriors.  Jose Rodriguez scored a late consolation goal for the Tartars (2-5-1, 0-2-0).

The Warriors held onto an early lead from the very near start of the game.  Jean-Pierre Dejean Macksa had an opportunity on goal saved by the Compton keeper after a pass from Brian Burrell, but Macksa buried it on the rebound to give the Warriors a lead in the 2nd minute.  

The Warriors doubled their advantage in the 67th minute.  Matthew Villongco crossed a ball that Mason Briggs was able to head into the left side of the goal to put the Warriors up 2-0.  

However, the Warriors couldn't complete the clean sheet when Compton scored a late goal in the 86th minute on a Compton corner kick.  

The Warriors outshot the Tartars, 18 to 10.  The Warriors had 7 shots on goal compared to Compton's 2 shots on goal.

Andrew Argueta picked up the win in net for the Warriors and was credited with one save.

El Camino next host the no.1 ranked team in the state, conference foe Cerritos.  Kick-off is scheduled for approximately 4:00 PM at the ECC Soccer Field on Friday, October 5th.
