Serrano, Cerda Find Back of the Net as Warriors Score Road Win

LANCASTER, Calif. – Misa Serrano and John Cerda provided the offense for El Camino College in a 2-1 non-conference road victory over Antelope Valley on Tuesday afternoon.

The Warriors secured their first road win of the season and third consecutive victory overall, overcoming an early deficit in the process. Cesar Amezcua played the entire match in net for the Warriors and only faced two shots on target for the match. He made one save.

Things did not start off so great for the Warriors as the Marauders got on the scoreboard first thanks to a goal from Jose Mojica in the 23rd minute. It was one of just two shots the Warriors defense allowed in the first half.

Meanwhile, the Warriors fired eight shots in the first half and, in the 33rd minute, ECC got the equalizer as Serrano scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Everardo Cadenias.

The teams went into the locker room deadlocked at one but Cerda's tally in the 56th minute put ECC on top for good.

The Warriors will return home Friday to face Golden West at Murdock Stadium as part of a doubleheader with women's soccer. The women face Santa Ana at 1 p.m. while kickoff for the men's game is set for 4 p.m.
