Warriors Fall Short to Hawks on Final Day of Tournament

TORRANCE, Calif. – The El Camino College men's basketball team fell just short to Santiago Canyon on the final day of the Paul Landreux Classic, 85-83, on Friday night at ECC North Gym.

Warriors guard Justin Reyes had a team-high 19 points in the loss, as he shot 4-of-8 from the three-point line while adding six rebounds and four assists. Also, sophomore Justin Chambers had a tough night from the floor (6-of-18) but still managed to finish the night with 18 points, three rebounds and two assists.

In the final seconds, Chambers drove the length of the floor and found himself a solid look at the basket, but it bounced off the top of the rim as time expired.

The Hawks did most of the damage at the free-throw line as they shot 27-of-46 from the line, compared to the Warriors who finished the night 13-of-22 from the stripe. Santiago Canyon guard Paulo Araujo shoot 9-of-18 from the field to lead the Hawks with 28 points.

El Camino finishes the 2018 with a 3-10 record and will open up the New Year at ECC North Gym against Mt. San Antonio College on Jan. 9 at 5 p.m. PT.
