Warriors Go Cold In Loss to Pasadena

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College went cold from the field in the second half and could not recover in a 90-63 loss to Pasadena City College Friday night at the ECC North Gym.

The Warriors (1-2) battled in the first half and overcame a double-digit deficit with a 12-0 run to take a 23-22 lead with 8:03 left. Both teams went back and forth with four ties and eight lead changes in the first 20 minutes of action.

In the second half, the Warriors could not put the ball through the hoop, going 5-for-21 from the field and 2-for-8 from distance, allowing the Lancers (2-2) to blow the game open with a 17-0 scoring run in a 6:53 span to turn a 43-43 tie into a blowout. The Lancers would outscore the Warriors 54-27 in the second half to take the win.

Justin Chambers led the Warriors with 14 points and four assists, the only ECC player to reach double-digits. The battle of the boards was another big factor as the Lancers outrebounded ECC 49-32 and had a 14-9 edge in second-chance points The Warriors also dropped the battle on the inside as Pasadena outscored the Warriors 36-16 in the paint.

The Warriors will now hit the road for their next two games starting with a game at Palomar on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
