Warriors Drop Conference Opener to Cerritos

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College trailed by double digits at halftime and could not recover as it dropped a 117-100 South Coast Conference, South Division matchup to Cerritos Wednesday night at the ECC North Gym.

Justin Chambers led the Warriors with 24 points on the night while Isiah Armstead added 22 points in 22 minutes off the bench. Overall, the Warriors had five players score in double figures. Nijel Jones led ECC with seven assists while Chambers led the effort on the glass with seven rebounds.

The Falcons had five players in double figures, led by Demetrius Thomas and Keshaun Mack with 26 points apiece. Thomas added 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks while Mack led the Falcons with seven assists. The Falcons would finish the night with 31 assists on 51 made baskets.

The Warriors did force 31 turnovers on the night for 32 points but Cerritos capitalized on easy baskets, scoring 94 points in the paint and 14 at the free throw line to secure the win.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday night when they head to L.A. Southwest for another SCC, South Division matchup. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
