Warriors Pull Away Late to Down L.A. Trade Tech at Skip Robinson Classic

PASADENA, Calif. – El Camino College picked up its first victory of the season thanks to a big second half run in a 116-104 win over L.A. Trade Tech Thursday afternoon in the opening game of the Skip Robinson Classic hosted by Pasadena City College.

Four Warriors (1-3) scored in double figures, led by Troy Biglow's 21-point effort. Omosa Ogunsuyi added 17 points, Isiah Armstead scored 16 and Justin Reyes dropped 14 for ECC in the victory.

For the Beavers (1-2), Rayshawn Bulger led the charge with 22 points and 18 rebounds in 29 minutes of action while Lawrence Carter added 16. Maxim Peranidze had 15 points and Maurice West chipped in with 14.

The Warriors nursed a one-point lead at the half, leading 53-52. But ECC picked up the pace in the second half, scoring 63 points in the period and using a 20-7 scoring run in a 5:28 span to pull away and they never looked back.

The Warriors finished the game with 32 assists on 41 field goals and hit 17 3-pointers in the victory. The defense also forced a remarkable 45 turnovers including 29 steals with Armstead and Reyes logging six thefts apiece.

With the victory, the Warriors advance to the winner's bracket semifinals where they will take on L.A. Valley, which defeated Mount San Antonio 76-70 in overtime in its first round matchup. Tipoff for that game is set for 5 p.m.
