Warriors Wrap up Regular Season at Allan Hancock
SANTA MARIA, Calif. --- No. 6 El Camino College finished off the 2024 regular season with a 56-20 National Northern League loss at Allan Hancock on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (7-3, 6-1) fell behind 28-0 in the first quarter and never recovered as the Bulldogs thwarted ECC's hopes of an undefeated finish in league play.
For the Warriors, Tyler Karen went 24-for-40 for 258 yards and two touchdowns with Elijah Holmes snagging five catches for 69 yards and one score.
On defense, Christian Hicks led the way with eight tackles while Isaac Sandy and Kaleb McCutcheon added seven apiece in the loss.
The Bulldogs put up 318 yards rushing on Saturday with Caden Harris going for 130 yards on 14 carries including a 60-yard touchdown. Anthony Tucker added 77 rushing yards and Semaji Carmichael put up 63 yards with a touchdown.
Historically, the Warriors and Bulldogs are now 4-4 against each other all-time dating back to their first meeting in 2001. The Bulldogs also scored their most points ever against ECC, eclipsing last year's mark of 55 points at Murdock Stadium.
The loss meant little for the Warriors in the league standings as they clinched the National Northern League Title last week with an overtime win over Ventura. They finish the regular season with a 7-3 overall record and 6-1 mark in league play.
The Warriors have drawn the No. 4 seed in the 3C2A Southern California Regional playoffs and will take on No. 1 seed Mt. San Antonio on Saturday, Nov. 30 at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. The time of the kickoff has yet to be determined. It will be the Warriors first meeting against Mt. SAC in the postseason since 2011.
