Brown Named All-American, Carroll All-State

2022 JC Athletic Bureau All-America and All-California Teams

TORRANCE, Calif. --- Sophomores Lando Brown and Koa Carroll added more accolades to their ledgers as the 2022 JC Athletic Bureau All-America and All-California Teams were announced on Wednesday.

Brown was named to the All-America First Team Defense along with being named the to the All-California Region III First Team Defense, taking home the All-California Defensive Player of the Year nod in the process.

Joining Brown on the All-California First Team Defense was Carroll, one of six linebackers selected to the squad.

The 2022 season was one to remember for Brown as he became the Warriors' all-time leader in both single-season and career sacks. He posted a SCFA-best 17 quarterback sacks during the regular season, five more than the next best player. The mark was also a new Warriors single-season record, eclipsing Daniel Stewart's 2008 record of 15 sacks.

Brown finished with 26 sacks in his two-year career at ECC, which also marked a new Warriors record. The old career mark was also set by Daniel Stewart who posted 23 sacks in his two seasons at ECC (2008-09).

On the season, Brown also finished second on the team with 70 total tackles and first on the squad with 29 tackles for a loss.

Carroll led the Warriors during the regular season with 75 total tackles including 11 tackles for a loss. He played in all 11 games for the Warriors and had two interceptions including one returned for a touchdown to go along with two forced fumbles.

In his Warriors career, Carroll played in 21 games and amassed 112 career tackles (71 solo) with 13 tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles. He also snagged five career interceptions and averaged 5.3 tackles per game in his two-year career.
