Football Falls at Grossmont, 35-14

El Cajon, Calif. - The Warriors (2-1) attacked first, scoring in the first two quarters, but turnovers proved costly in their 35-14 loss at Grossmont (3-0) on Saturday.

Sophomore quarterback David Sills counted the first points on a nine-yard run before regaining the lead in the second quarter on a 23-yard pass to sophomore tight end Erik Henneman at the 14-7 mark.

But the Warriors were unable to get their offense going again as Grossmont counted 28-straight points through the end of the third quarter.

On the day, Sills went 16-for-28 for 219 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman wideout Trevon Dean and sophomore Zaire Andre led the receiving corp with Dean counting two receptions for 77 yards and Andre with seven receptions for 60 yards.

Sophomore Nathaniel Vaughn counted the second-straight game with an interception, coming in the fourth quarter. On the day, Vaughn earned six tackles, incluuing one for loss.

The Warriors return home to host Saddleback on Saturday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Murdock Stadium, and live video will be available.
